Open Library

The Library is open in the morning before school and during lunch.  Students are encouraged to explore the possibilities the library has to offer.

Tinker Tuesday was one event that was held during the 2017-2018 school year.  What will this year bring?

Attention Students:  Become Sandyston-Walpack's Book Critic!

Do you think books published in the 1970's should be kept on the shelves?  Are they out of date and today's students would not be interested in reading them.  We want to hear your opinions.

Your opinion matters, we want all students to hear your recommendations. A video will be placed on the website with your opinion.

Book Box (mailbox)- What did you think of the novel you just read?  Tell us about it.  Your "critique"  will be published on the website.

Reading Without Walls Challenge

1. Read a book about a character who doesn’t look like you or live like you.

2. Read a book about a topic you don’t know much about.

3. Read a book in a format that you don’t normally read for fun. This might be a chapter book, a graphic novel, a book in verse, a picture book, or a hybrid book.

Welcome to the library, a curious place filled with

irresistible books kids can’t wait to read.  As you enter

this enchanted forest, allow your imaginations to run

wild. Here you could be a woodland creature or a

wizard who casts magic spells, perhaps your a

princess or one of the three pigs who just met the

wolf.  Whatever favorite fairy tale you have been

enchanted by there is a special project waiting for you!

Here's your challenge, find your favorite fairy tale or mythology and create a hat based on the book or character that is in the book. Hats that are judged cannot be purchased, so gather family or friends to make these unique fairytale reading hats.

All hat submissions are due by:

                                                    Friday,  October 19th.

Teachers and students will vote based on several                                                categories:

* Most original - it's one of a kind, a unique tale that has never been heard.

* Most creative - unique materials & details were used to make the hat.

* Traditional - known fairytale or myth with a little twist

* Recyclable Materials - the hat is made with 100% recyclable materials.

Did you think of another category:  submit your ideas by October 19th.

Tell us about it and we will add your name!  Ongoing throughout the year!
